2012 Bel Air Downtown Alliance Event Sponsorships
It’s hard to believe that another year has already passed us by, but WOW, what a year it was here in Downtown Bel Air! We are very happy to report that the Bel Air Downtown Alliance hosted the most successful events in our 10 year history! From the Chocolate & Candy Festival in March and all the way through the Annual Bel Air Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting in December, 2011 events set a new standard for success in Downtown Bel Air. You will also be pleased to know that the success of our events throughout the year enabled us to fund a variety of programs to support our local businesses. In partnership with the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, Harford County Economic Development, Bel Air and Havre de Grace Offices of Economic Development, and Havre de Grace Main Street, we were able to bring Cinda Baxter, founder of The 3/50 Project, to Harford Community College to speak to local businesses about the importance of creating awareness with respect to “Think Local First”. In addition, several new marketing campaigns were launched to support the idea of “Think Local First”, including an expansion of our radio promotions to a variety of stations in and around the Baltimore region, as well as, several new radio promotions to support Girls Night Out, which is held the third Thursday of every month. We also partnered with Main Street Maryland in support of Small Business Saturday and “Keep The Cheer Here” this holiday season. In short, the success of 2011 has given us the ability to broaden and strengthen our mission of creating a vibrant business community and visitor friendly destination in Downtown Bel Air in the coming year. We are looking forward to an exciting 2012 and to the next step in strengthening community advocacy of “Think Local First”.
In order for the Bel Air Downtown Alliance to have another successful year and continue our support of the local business community, we need your support and your generosity. The Chocolate & Candy Festival will be returning to the Bel Air Armory on March 3rd, First Fridays will kick off another season of fun on May 4th, the Outdoor Movies at Shamrock Park will launch on June 8th, Maryland’s BIGGEST and BADDEST barbecue event, the MD State BBQ Bash, returns to Downtown Bel Air on August 10th and 11th, and the Annual Bel Air Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting will hit Main Street on December 3rd. In addition, we are creating two new traditions in Downtown Bel Air with “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”, starring Gene Wilder, being shown a week before the Chocolate & Candy Festival, as well as, a holiday classic being shown in December. Both of the new Movie Nights will be FREE and held at the Bel Air Armory. Finally, two new events that were launched in 2011 will be returning to our events calendar in 2012. Halfway to First Fridays will be back in February and the Annual Birthday Bash, celebrating the Alliance’s birthday, will return in November.
As you can see, we have a jam packed events calendar and are really looking forward to hosting all of these wonderful events. Each event and each promotion are perfect examples of why Downtown Bel Air is a fantastic family-friendly destination and why Downtown Bel Air is the "Heart of Harford".
